Alpine Woman’s Club 25th Annual Victorian Tea April 21st

In 1993 the Alpine Woman’s Club held their first Victorian Tea in the historic Town Hall. The perfect setting for such an elegant affair. Each year the ladies present a menu centered around small cakes, sandwiches, assorted sweets and, of course, tea. Ladies will be embellished with jaunty chapeaus and elegant attire.

Afternoon tea was created by Anna, Duchess of Bedford, in 1840. This ritual became so popular among affluent classes that it became one of the mainstays of British life. Beginning in both America and England in the late l880's, fine hotels began to offer tea service in Tea Rooms and Tea Courts. Victorian ladies and their gentlemen would meet in the late afternoon for tea and conversation.

The Alpine Woman’s Club Victorian Tea has been compared to the teas at the Hotel Del Coronado and Westgate Hotel. This is the perfect venue to showcase your finest hat, share good conversation with good friends and introduce your daughter or granddaughter to their first Victorian Tea. What a wonderful experience for any young lady ages 8 years and up. Entertainment will feature piano music by William D. Young, playing songs from yesteryear. Rhyann Cope will be singing songs of the era. There will also be a raffle, door prizes and other surprises. Period attire is recommended but not required. If you wear a hat you will receive a free raffle ticket. If you wear a period outfit you will be entered in the Fashion Show Contest. Lots of fun and surprises.

This year’s event will be on Saturday April 21st. There are only two sittings one at 11:30am and another at 2:30pm. Space is limited so please reserve your place early. Cost is $40 per person and the proceeds go towards their Scholarship, Preservation and Education Foundation.

Christmas in Alpine” Home Tour, December 16th

The Alpine Woman’s Club will hold its Eleventh Annual “Christmas in Alpine” Home Tour on Saturday, December 16th from 10am to 3pm. You will have an opportunity to view five stunning country estates, stroll through Kathy and Mario’s quaint and spectacular Alpine Country Garden and Gifts Shop and visit the Alpine Museums decorated in 1800’s Christmas decor. The Historic Town Hall will be open from 1pm till 4pm, where you can view the Dickens Christmas Village on the Town Hall stage. Ticket holders can also enjoy light refreshments and a surprise gift to say thank you for your support. Tour Tickets are $30 prior to Home Tour and $35 at the door. Tickets are available for pick up and purchase at the Alpine Woman’s Club 2156 Alpine Blvd. on Saturday Dec 16th starting at 9:30am. There will be a selection of hand-made gift items available for purchase to make your holiday shopping a breeze and an opportunity drawing for a $500 cash prize.  Raffle tickets are $5 each or 6 for $20. The drawing will be held at the Club House at 3:45pm after the Tour but you do not have to be present to win. Proceeds benefit the Alpine Woman’s Club Scholarship Fund and the maintenance of the Historic Town Hall which was built in 1899.
